Structural Engineering

Pula Consultants has a strong capability to undertake designs and provide construction supervision of a range of structural projects, from factory shells to high rise profile buildings in Botswana and beyond. In this respect Pula Consultants has collaborated with professional organizations from other disciplines such as Architecture, Quantity Surveying, etc. On some of the prestigious structural projects Pula Consultants has teamed up with renowned firms such as WSP of South Africa to achieve and maintain the desired high standards.

BUIST Project

Botswana International University of Science and Technology Project

Unified Secondary School at Mahupu CJSS in Takatokwane

Pula Consultants are providing the Contractor with civil and structural engineering design and construction supervision services on this project. The project is being constructed as a design and build project. The existing Junior Secondary School is being upgraded into a Unified Secondary School by building new boarding and academic facilities for close to 600 Senior Secondary School pupils. Part of the work includes upgrading existing sewer services from being septic and soak-away into a reticulated system.

CBD Grand Union Building

Pula Consultants was commissioned to undertake the engineering designs, and construction supervision of the structural and civil components that included structures, external works, sewerage and water reticulation of this development. The four-storey Phase I building was completed  in 2014.

Phase II is still at planning stage.

Thamalakane Bridge – Maun

Thamalakane River Bridge is located within the village of Maun which is situated about 915km North West of Gaborone in the North West District of the Republic of Botswana. The bridge design was completed in 2008 and construction commenced in January 2013. It is a 120m long bridge comprising of 6 x 20M span reinforced concrete. The bridge crosses the perennial Thamalakane River which originates from the Okavango Delta and passes through the village of Maun.

BIFM Development

Pula Consultants, in joint venture with Lilicrap Crutchfield Consulting of South Africa, undertook the design, site supervision and construction management of the civil and structural works for the multi-storey BIFM office Development Phase I at Fairgrounds, Gaborone, Botswana.  The building comprises of two major blocks with double storey parking basements and up to 5 upper floors in reinforced concrete. Construction was completed in September 2004.

The Client was the Management of the Botswana Insurance Fund.

SSKB Officers Mess and Auditorium

Pula Consultants designed and supervised the construction of the Auditorium, Officers’ Mess and residential houses for the Botswana Defence Force (BDF) at Sir Seretse Khama Barracks (SSKB). The works also included road works and associated storm water drainage, water and sewerage reticulations.

Botswana Innovation Hub Headquarters

Pula consultants in joint venture with WSP Structures Africa was commissioned to carry out the structural/civil engineering designs and construction supervision for the headquarters building of the Botswana Innovation Hub (BIH).

BDC Fairscape Precinct

Pula Consultants was responsible for the design and construction supervision of the BDC Fairscape Precinct. This development is comprised of a multi-storey diagonal-grid office block on pre-cast concrete frame, and associated civil works including roads, storm water drainage, domestic and fire water and sewerage reticulation systems. 

This project was done by Pula Consultants in joint venture with WSP Structures, South Africa.
