Thamalakane Bridge – Maun

Thamalakane River Bridge is located within the village of Maun which is situated about 915km North West of Gaborone in the North West District of the Republic of Botswana. The bridge design was completed in 2008 and construction commenced in January 2013. It is a 120m long bridge comprising of 6 x 20M span reinforced concrete. The bridge crosses the perennial Thamalakane River which originates from the Okavango Delta and passes through the village of Maun. The approachroads to the bridge have been improved and their cumulative length is 650m.They are constructed to bitumen standard consisting of 2 x 3.7m lanes, 2 x 1.0mshoulders and a raised pedestrian walkway.

The project cost was estimated at 75 million Pula (2013 prices) and estimated to take 18 months to complete construction. The actual cost of construction at completion was 72.6 million Pula.
